This home is fashioned after one of our most popular house plans, but it is made more energy efficient and also features wheelchair accessible doorways. Designed for north orientation, the partially bermed and thicker insulated walls add extra protection against cold winter winds. This home also includes both 2 x 6 and 2 x 8 wall construction options and insulated vinyl siding with triple-glazed insulated wood windows and doors. The basement has insulated walls inside and out and a natural cooling system created by a 40' long buried pipe that provides a constant 55 degree earth temperature to help cool the house. The vaulted great room and atrium with two-story window wall provide great southern views and warmth of the sun. The shake roof provides over three times the insulating value of asphalt shingles.
